Important: Students who started their studies in the 90-ECTS Bachelor program in English Literature and Linguistics before the fall semester 2019 can remain enrolled in this program. They have to complete their studies by the end of the spring semester 2023 (i.e. the spring semester 2023 is the last semester in which they can graduate from this program).
The following guidelines help you ensure that the transition to the new Bologna 2020 system does not cause any problems.
We recommend that you follow the guidelines below. This will help you ensure that you meet all the requirements of the Studienordnung, and that the transition does not cause any problems.
In addition, we have prepared a PDF checklist (PDF, 191 KB) that you can use to double-check whether or not you have fulfilled the requirements of our recommended guidelines for the 90-ECTS Bachelor program in English Literature and Linguistics (to be discontinued after the spring semester 2023).
Please read these recommended guidelines carefully. They will help you avoid potential problems arising from the Bologna 2020 reform.
The three modules from the module group "Introduction to English Literature and Linguistics" should be taken at the very beginning of one's studies.
In addition, some modules listed under "Electives " may also be suitable. (Details are indicated below.)
Note: "Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology" will no longer be required. However, students who have already completed the module can of course count the 2 ECTS points as an elective (see below).
The modules listed below are intended for advanced students (i.e. students who have completed all the modules from the module group "Introduction to English Literature and Linguistics").
Note: If you have already completed "History of Literature in English" but not "Reading List: English Literature" (or vice versa), then please contact the Advisor of Studies for information on how to proceed.
The number of points needed from elective modules is max. 32 ECTS, min. 21 ECTS.
The following is how you calculate the exact number of points needed in your case:
Note: Students who take a Bachelor Thesis Seminar in the spring 2019 can choose whether they would like to complete the old version of the Bachelor Thesis module (9 ECTS) or the new Bachelor Thesis module (15 ECTS). Generally speaking, in such cases we recommend that you complete the old module, unless there is a very urgent reason to do otherwise.
Please contact the Advisor of Studies if any of the following applies to you:
