Content | This one-semester, weekly course follows on from the module "Language Skills and Culture: Introduction." Students will be offered a choice between a US and UK focussed course, looking at a range of cultural issues and how they are reflected in the mass media. Building on the skills acquired in the LS&C Introduction, the course will also develop and extend the students' critical thinking and academic writing skills. In addition, students will also be introduced to essential tools of media analysis. |
Learning outcomes | Students can critically analyse media texts and develop their analysis within the framework of an academic essay. They can present a nuanced and supported interpretation cohesively and in academic English (C1 level). |
