Sample Timetables Track "English Literature Only": Part-Time Students

Disclaimer: The applicable legal regulations can be found in the framework ordinance (Rahmenverordnung) and the program regulation (Studienordnung) for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The information below is for illustrative purposes only and should be regarded as a recommendation. In case of any contradictions between this document and the legal regulations or between the German version and a translation, only the legal regulations or the German version, respectively, have legal bearing.

Part-Time Students: Two Examples

Important: While there is no minimum number of credits required per semester, a workload of 60% or more is recommended. (The three examples below are for a two-thirds workload.)

Note: None of these sample timetables are binding; they are intended as examples or 'templates.'

Sample Timetable for Part-Time Students: 66.7% (Example 1)

  • SStudents can start their studies either in the fall or in the spring semester.
  • In the case of two-semester modules, the total number of ECTS points is 'spread out' over two semesters.
  • A full-time workload is 30 ECTS per semester (Major and Minor combined). However, students are free to reduce the workload per semester, thus allowing for part-time study (i.e. there is no minimum number of credits required per semester).
  • The total number of credits for a 66.7% workload is c. 20 ECTS per semester (Major and Minor combined).
  • As the overall requirements for the Master degree stay the same (120 ECTS), taking fewer credits per semester means that one will need more time to complete one's studies.
  • Depending on the requirements of your Minor, the template below will have to be adjusted.
  • In principle, it is possible to go abroad at any point. However, the first and the final semesters are not ideal for a stay abroad. Please consult the Stay Abroad section of the UZH English Department website for more details.
