Yewande Omotoso was born in Barbados and grew up in Nigeria, moving to SouthAfrica with her family in 1992. In 2012, she won the South African Literary Awardfor First-Time Published Author and was shortlisted for the South African SundayTimes Fiction Prize. She currently lives in Johannesburg.
As part of Prof. Ana Sobral’s BA Seminar Torn and New: The Postcolonial Novel in
Africa, Yewande Omotoso will speak about her novels, her experiences as a transnational author, and South Africa today.
