Students and members of staff are cordially invited to a guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Robert Applebaum (Uppsala University) on "Early Modern Terrorism
and the Gunpowder Plot."

The guest lecture is part of Prof. Ana Sobral’s MA Seminar "Gunpowder Plot, V for Vendetta, Anonymous: The Afterlives of Guy Fawkes." Prof. Rober Appelbaum will discuss the famous failed plot to blow up the parliament and assassinate King James I on November 5th, 1605, as a case of ‘terrorism before the letter’, illuminating the tensions, conflicts and tools of political struggle in early modern England.
