MARCH 12-13. Robert Pippin is Evelyn Stefansson Nef Distinguished Service Professor in the John U. Nef Committee on Social Thought, the Department of Philosophy, and the College at the University of Chicago. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Kant, Hegel, and Nietzsche, as well as on film and modern visual arts. In this workshop he will lecture on Hegel and the Philosophy of Visual Modernism as well as on Skepticism in Nicholas Ray's In a Lonely Place. The latter talk is complemented with a seminar discussion on Robert Pippin's forthcoming book on Philosophy and Film Noir, which gives participants the opportunity to engage in a discussion with this eminent philosopher and critic.
